Posted on April 4, 2022
The 72 megawatts (MW) Arayat-Mexico solar farm of ACEN in Pampanga has reached its full energization last month, only less than a year after it broke ground.
The project, which was with Citicore, is expected to add capacity to the grid in time for the demand surge during the summer season. The farm is capable of powering 45,000 households while producing as much as 105 gigawatthours of renewable energy annually, avoiding up to 72,000 metric tons of yearly carbon dioxide emissions.
Oliver Tan, Citicore chief executive officer, said in a statement the company is preparing to infuse the project into its affiliate firm, Citicore Energy REIT Corp., to grow its renewable energy asset portfolio in the coming months.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines will conduct its own testing for grid compliance of the solar farm which is expected to be completed by the second week of April.
The solar plant shall be managed and operated in-house by Citicore Property Managers Inc.
Tan said the parties’ construction team is ready to break ground on the Pampanga solar farm’s second phase this month and complete its construction by yearend to increase total plant capacity to 116 MW.
